About

Cook what you already have.

From Your Fridge started with a simple question: what can I make tonight without another grocery run? Most of us open the fridge to half an onion, some leftover chicken, and a carton of eggs, and still end up ordering takeout. We built a free AI recipe generator that turns those odds and ends into a real dinner.

Tell it what you have and it writes one practical recipe around those ingredients, adding only basic staples like oil, salt, and spices. No shopping list of specialty items and no restaurant techniques, just weeknight cooking a tired person can finish.

Cooking with what you have is also the easiest way to waste less food. Ingredients get used before they spoil, leftovers become lunch, and the grocery bill goes down.

What you can do here

Everything is free to use. Some features save to a free account.

With a free account you also get a kitchen dashboard: save the recipes you like, keep a pantry list with optional reminders before items expire, build a grocery list from any recipe, and keep your meal plans in one place. Create a free account.

How we choose recipes

The public recipe catalog is curated, not a dump of every AI output. We choose what goes in it, and we favor dishes built on everyday ingredients, with clear amounts and steps, that fit a weeknight.

Recipes you generate for yourself stay private. When you save one, it goes to your account, not to the public site. Readers can also submit their own recipes, which go through the same review.

We'd rather publish fewer recipes that work than thousands of thin pages.

health_and_safetyA note on AI and food safety

AI-generated recipes are a starting point. Read a recipe through before you cook, and use your own judgment on timing and seasoning.

  • Nutrition figures are estimates, not lab measurements.
  • The generator doesn't know about your allergies. Check every ingredient.
  • Cook meat, poultry, and eggs to safe internal temperatures, and check our food storage guides before eating leftovers.

Frequently asked questions

Is From Your Fridge free?expand_more

Yes. Without an account you can generate 3 recipes and 1 meal plan a day. A free account removes the daily limit and lets you save recipes, track your pantry, and keep a grocery list. The site is supported by ads on public pages.

How does the AI recipe generator work?expand_more

You enter the ingredients you have, plus any diet, time, or calorie limits. The AI writes one recipe that uses your ingredients as the main components and only adds basic staples like oil, salt, or spices. You can then cook it step by step in cooking mode with built-in timers.

Are AI-generated recipes safe to cook?expand_more

Treat them like a recipe from a friend: read it through before you start. AI can make mistakes, nutrition numbers are estimates, and it can't know about your allergies. Always cook meat, poultry, and eggs to safe internal temperatures (165°F / 74°C for chicken).

Are the recipes on the recipes page AI-generated?expand_more

The public catalog is curated by our team, and reader submissions are reviewed before anything is published. Recipes you generate for yourself stay private to your account when you save them and are never added to the public catalog.

Can I share my own recipe?expand_more

Yes. Use the Submit a recipe page. Every submission is reviewed, and recipes that fit the leftover and weeknight catalog are published.
