Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes)

Chewy cylinder rice cakes cooked in a sweet and fiery gochujang chili sauce.

Ingredients

  • korean rice cakes (tteok)
  • gochujang (chili paste)
  • gochugaru (chili flakes)
  • fish cakes sliced
  • dashi or anchovy stock
  • sugar
  • green onions

Instructions

  1. 1Bring dashi stock to a boil, then stir in gochujang, gochugaru, and sugar.
  2. 2Add rice cakes and sliced fish cakes to the simmering sauce.
  3. 3Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring constantly, until rice cakes are soft and sauce is thick.
  4. 4Stir in chopped green onions and serve hot.
