Taiyaki Fish Waffles

Fish-shaped waffle cakes baked with a sweet red bean paste filling.

  • cake flour
  • baking powder
  • sugar
  • milk
  • egg
  • anko (sweet red bean paste)

Instructions

  1. 1Whisk egg, milk, and sugar together, then fold in cake flour and baking powder to make batter.
  2. 2Preheat a taiyaki pan griddle and brush with oil.
  3. 3Pour batter into the fish-shaped molds, filling them halfway.
  4. 4Place a spoonful of sweet red bean paste in the center, and cover with more batter.
  5. 5Close the griddle and bake for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
