Sweet and Sour Rotkohl

Traditional German red cabbage braised slowly with apples, vinegar, and cloves.

Ingredients

Provided

  • red cabbage shredded
  • apple chopped
  • onion chopped
  • red wine vinegar
  • brown sugar
  • cloves
  • butter

Instructions

  1. 1Sauté chopped onion and apple in butter in a pot.
  2. 2Add shredded red cabbage and stir to coat.
  3. 3Add red wine vinegar, brown sugar, cloves, and a cup of water.
  4. 4Cover and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes until red cabbage is tender and sweet.
