Som Tum (Papaya Salad)

Spicy and tangy green papaya salad pounded with garlic, chilies, peanuts, and lime.

Ingredients

  • green papaya shredded
  • garlic cloves
  • thai bird's eye chilies
  • cherry tomatoes
  • green beans
  • fish sauce
  • lime juice
  • roasted peanuts

Instructions

  1. 1Pound garlic and chilies in a mortar and pestle until crushed.
  2. 2Add green beans and tomatoes, bruise gently.
  3. 3Stir in fish sauce, lime juice, and palm sugar.
  4. 4Toss in the shredded green papaya, mixing and bruising lightly with the pestle.
  5. 5Garnish with roasted peanuts and serve cold.
