Pork Carnitas Tacos

Crispy, tender slow-cooked pork shredded and served in warm corn tortillas with chopped onion and cilantro.

Ingredients

Provided

  • pork shoulder cubed
  • lard or vegetable oil
  • orange juiced and rind kept
  • cinnamon stick
  • garlic cloves crushed
  • corn tortillas
  • white onion chopped
  • fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. 1Simmer pork shoulder cubes in lard/oil with orange juice, orange rind, garlic, cinnamon, and salt in a heavy pot for 2-3 hours until tender.
  2. 2Remove pork, shred it, and place under an oven broiler for 5-8 minutes until edges are crispy.
  3. 3Warm corn tortillas on a flat comal.
  4. 4Fill tortillas with shredded pork carnitas.
  5. 5Top with chopped white onion, fresh cilantro, and fresh salsa.
