Pastitsio (Greek Lasagna)

Tubular pasta layered with sweet-spiced ground beef and topped with a thick custard-like béchamel.

Ingredients

Provided

  • tubular pasta
  • ground beef
  • tomato sauce
  • ground cinnamon and cloves
  • milk
  • butter and flour
  • egg yolks
  • Kefalotyri cheese

Instructions

  1. 1Boil pasta and toss with a beaten egg yolk; set aside.
  2. 2Sauté ground beef, add tomato sauce, cinnamon, cloves, and simmer.
  3. 3Make Béchamel and whisk in egg yolks and cheese.
  4. 4Layer pasta, beef, and top with Béchamel.
  5. 5Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40 minutes.
