Gulab Jamun

Soft, spongy milk-solid balls fried and soaked in a sweet cardamom-infused sugar syrup.

Ingredients

  • milk powder
  • all-purpose flour
  • ghee
  • milk
  • baking powder
  • sugar
  • water
  • cardamom pods
  • rose water

Instructions

  1. 1Boil sugar, water, cardamom, and rose water for 5 minutes to make a sticky syrup; keep warm.
  2. 2Mix milk powder, flour, baking powder, ghee, and milk to make a soft, smooth dough.
  3. 3Shape dough into small, crack-free round balls.
  4. 4Fry the balls in medium-low oil (300°F/150°C) until deep golden brown all over (approx. 5 minutes).
  5. 5Drain and immediately transfer the hot balls into the warm sugar syrup. Soak for at least 1 hour before serving.
