Semolina custard baked in crispy phyllo pastry, soaked in lemon syrup.

Ingredients

  • phyllo pastry sheets
  • milk
  • fine semolina
  • sugar
  • eggs
  • butter melted
  • lemon juice
  • water

Instructions

  1. 1Boil sugar, water, and lemon juice to make syrup; cool.
  2. 2Simmer milk, semolina, and sugar until thick, then whisk in eggs and vanilla.
  3. 3Layer half of the buttered phyllo sheets in a baking pan.
  4. 4Pour in the hot custard, top with remaining buttered phyllo sheets, and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes.
  5. 5Pour the cold syrup over the hot pastry.
