Dal Tadka
Yellow lentils cooked with onions, tomatoes, and tempered with ghee, cumin seeds, garlic, and red chilies.

- •yellow split lentils (toor dal)
- •onion chopped
- •tomato chopped
- •ghee
- •cumin seeds
- •garlic minced
- •dried red chilies
- •turmeric
- •fresh cilantro
Instructions
- 1Boil lentils in water with turmeric and salt until completely soft.
- 2Sauté chopped onions, garlic, and tomatoes in a pan until soft.
- 3Pour cooked lentils into the onion-tomato mixture and simmer for 5 minutes.
- 4Prepare tempering (tadka): heat ghee in a small pan, add cumin seeds, minced garlic, and dried red chilies until browned and aromatic.
- 5Pour the hot tempering directly onto the simmering lentils. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
