Spanish custard dessert with a crisp caramelized sugar topping, flavored with orange and cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • milk
  • egg yolks
  • sugar
  • cornstarch
  • cinnamon stick
  • orange peel

Instructions

  1. 1Simmer milk, cinnamon stick, and orange peel; let cool slightly and strain.
  2. 2Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch, then slowly whisk in the warm milk.
  3. 3Cook on low heat, stirring constantly until thick.
  4. 4Pour into clay dishes and chill for 4 hours.
  5. 5Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with a kitchen torch.
