Classic French Quiche Lorraine

A butter pastry crust filled with savory bacon lardons and cheese in a rich egg custard.

Ingredients

  • pie crust dough
  • bacon lardons
  • Gruyere cheese shredded
  • eggs
  • heavy cream
  • whole milk
  • ground nutmeg
  • black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Fit pie crust into a tart pan, poke holes with a fork, and bake at 375°F for 10 minutes.
  2. 2Sauté bacon lardons in a pan until crispy, then drain.
  3. 3Whisk eggs, heavy cream, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  4. 4Scatter bacon and Gruyere cheese at the bottom of the pre-baked pie crust.
  5. 5Pour egg mixture over the top and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes until set.
