  • fresh mozzarella di bufala or fiordilatte round
  • heritage or vine-ripened tomatoes
  • fresh sweet basil leaves
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • aged balsamic glaze
  • flaky sea salt
  • coarse black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Slice the buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes into even 1/3-inch thick rounds.
  2. 2Alternate the tomato and cheese slices on a chilled serving platter to create a uniform layered layout.
  3. 3Tuck whole, fresh sweet basil leaves between each tomato and mozzarella layer.
  4. 4Drizzle generously with high-quality extra virgin olive oil and a zig-zag of aged balsamic glaze.
  5. 5Season with flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper right before serving to preserve the texture.
