Beef Gyudon (Rice Bowl)

Thinly sliced beef and sweet onions simmered in a savory dashi-soy broth, served over rice.

Ingredients

  • beef chuck thinly sliced
  • onion sliced
  • dashi stock
  • soy sauce
  • mirin
  • sake
  • sugar
  • steamed rice
  • pickled red ginger

Instructions

  1. 1Bring dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar to a boil in a pan.
  2. 2Add sliced onions and simmer for 5 minutes until soft.
  3. 3Add thinly sliced beef and simmer for 5-6 minutes until beef is cooked through.
  4. 4Ladle beef, onions, and broth over a bowl of hot steamed rice.
  5. 5Garnish with pickled red ginger and sliced green onions.
